Mike to Nick’s Sully

by crankygeek ~ July 28th, 2005. Filed under: Software.

My name is in an article in a magazine!

(If you’ve seen Monsters Inc., you’ll get that.)

The August 2005 issue of Inc. magazine has an article about using customer forums as a low-cost high-quality (emphasis added) means of providing tech support. They interviewed Nick about his forums and it even mentions how they hired me because of my contributions.

Bill Rose’s comment that “People like being seen as experts in their field,” doesn’t sound very flattering, though. Oh well, it got me a job and that ain’t bad. :)

But will someone explain that photo to me? Obviously they have a stand-in because we all know what Nick really looks like:

Basil - Nick's alter-ego

And who really believes his desk is that clean?

OT: Nice new look to the web site, Jack. Does this mean you are no longer a “modern luddite”? Very cool.

Still a very modern Luddite. Just needed. . .something else besides the default.

I’m actually home-brewing a theme right now, but this theme went with a photo I had (taken at Haleakala - http://www.nps.gov/hale/) which amused me greatly and was just non-sequiter-ish enough to be a good blog image.

    Hey Jack:
Congrats on the new job - and working for Nick - how cool is that?

I can’t wait to read the article.

    Hey stranger!

It’s almost as cool as being an MVP, but on the plus side, the pay is better. :)
